The Grignan-les-Adhémar Appellation, labeled in 2010, spreads its vineyard between Montélimar, Grignan and Saint-Paul 3 Châteaux, at the heart of Drôme Provençale region.
Quite hilly, the vineyard is embedded in a patchwork of very southern colors and scents – lavender, truffle oaks (first French region for truffle production), olives, aromatic herbs; and the soil can vary from stony to mixing pebbles or clay and limestone. It is in that environment that noble grape varieties (Grenache, Syrah, Viognier etc.) grom to give Reds, Rosés and Whites with typical aromas of scrubland and spices.
The wines are light, pleasing to drink and can be kept 2 to 3 years, but the most opulent ones with a more sustained keeping can definitely accompany spicy or flavored meals.
